Art Preserving Culture
It all begins with an idea.
Hi, my name is Ramel J. Wallace and I have never left the town where I was born, San Diego California. Some people have to leave the nest and others have to preserve it. Preservation is at the core of my purpose and working with the African American Museum of Fine Art is a great reminder of that.
Art is the salt of the meat of any movement. Allowing future generations to taste the pasteurized past.
I have the hope of who I I would like to be
First Year of Creative Mornings
It all begins with an idea.
I celebrated my one year as host of Creative Mornings San Diego by having Angie Chandler speak on the theme of Freedom. Angie is from Brooklyn, the birth of Hip Hop. She is a spitting image of Hip Hop culture from her caribean back ground to her relationship to it’s birthplace. and brings her skills of strategy, poetry, history and art to the museum world. . From the way she displays her vulnerability.
understand that most celebrations come in different forms. But giving space to people is an end to itself. Philosopher Immanuel Kant said, “Rational human beings should be treated as an end in themselves and not as a means to something else. The fact that we are human has value in itself.” I write this and immediately thing of how much Angie would question me bringing Kant into blog written about her. Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
